Storm Damages Utility Provider, Damages Brownsville

BROWNSVILLE, Tenn.- An electric utility company that serves customers across several counties in Tennessee is still working to recover from damage that hit its Haywood County office. The communications tower for Southwest Tennessee Electric Membership Cooperative was damaged during the storm that hit Brownsville, Thursday afternoon. The 300-foot tower was then demolished during a “controlled take-down.” The damage caused some communication problems for utility workers who were working to restore power to areas in Haywood and Tipton counties. Crews had to drive mile-by-mile to work to repair outages. Southwest crews continued to work through the night and today to repair damage from the strong storms.
