School Supplies Giveaway in Selmer

SELMER, Tenn. – Backpacks, notebooks, pens, paper, and more will be available in Selmer as part of the Fourth Annual Back to School Bash, Saturday. Supplies will be handed out on a “first come, first serve” basis at the Selmer Community Center from 10 a.m. until Noon, or until supplies run out. Organizers said the supplies are for anyone with school-age children in McNairy County. “It’s not just for the needy,” said Pamela Carroll, president of the Community Advisory Board. “It’s for anybody who needs the supplies. Like grandparents that are raising children, parents with middle incomes that can afford it but can’t afford it because they have so many children. So it’s for every child in McNairy County.” Along with school supplies, there will be free health screenings, food and drinks, and a variety of vendors set up in the gym.
