JACKSON, Tenn.- Jackson police are still searching for the teen they have identified as the gunman in the shooting that injured a 16-year- old boy and 22-year-old man on Allen Avenue, Sunday. “Two days is too long it really is and then it’s fixing to be another day,” said concerned neighbor Ashley Long. “It’s sad the fact that we don’t know who he is and he could be out here right now.” Officers were called to Allen Avenue around 8:30 a.m., Sunday where they found the teen lying on the shoulder of the roadway with several gunshot wounds. Investigators said he was taken to Jackson-Madison County General Hospital and was later was airlifted to the Regional Medical Center in Memphis in serious condition. Officials said the 22-year-old with him had a bullet graze his hand. “It’s crazy I mean I hope they find him we need justice we need it and it’s bad,” said neighbor Tamaran Ross. Based on the preliminary investigation, police said the 16-year-old boy and a 22-year-old man were walking together through the Allenton Heights public housing complex when another 16-year old boy opened fire. “They cannot find who did it he could be anywhere he could do it again he did it in broad daylight so it can happen at anytime,” said Ross. Officers found more than 20 shell casings on the scene. Police said the victim knew the suspected teen shooter but what led up to the gun violence is still unclear at this time. “One thing about the whole situation is ‘why does a 16-year-old have a gun?’ These young kids out here are corrupt,” said Long. Investigators cannot release the identity of their suspect because he is underage. Officers said the young man’s family does know the teen is wanted but they too have not been able to locate him.
