JMCSS First Day in One Week

JACKSON, Tenn.- It Is hard to believe, but in exactly one week Jackson-Madison County students start the 2013-2014 school year. Teachers at schools across the district are already getting ready. in the classrooms, putting up bulletin boards and arranging desks. Teachers begin their in-service on Tuesday. If you have wondered why students go back on a Friday for only half a day, you are not alone. WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News went straight to new superintendent, Dr. Verna Ruffin for the answer. “The idea behind a half day on Friday is that it gives students an opportunity to go home with their school supply list and it gives students and parents an opportunity to shop over the weekend and to make certain those supplies are gathered,” said Dr. Ruffin.
