Group Encourages Electronic Medical Record Usage

JACKSON, Tenn.- No longer are your medical files made up of stacks and stacks of papers and x-rays, and it Is all thanks to technology. Tuesday, Q-Source and the state of Tennessee announced that direct technology is available to healthcare providers statewide. This resource will allow health professionals to share patient files securely over the internet. Direct technology is an email-like service. “If your bank told you that you can’t see your bank account, you would thin, that’s crazy but that happens to patients all the time that they’re able to see their own information,” Dr. Russell Leftwich, a chief medical informatics officer. The new technology also helps healthcare providers meet federal standards for sharing patient health information.
