Downtown Shooting Suspect Appears in Court

JACKSON, Tenn.- A man is in jail and charged in connection with a shooting that injured one person in west Jackson, Tuesday evening. Police told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News Santiveious Collins, 27, who is being held on a $100,000 bond, turned himself in around midnight. Tuesday. The shooting happened around 6:40 p.m. at McMillan Towers on South Fairgrounds Street in west Jackson. Officers said the gunman shot a 23-year-old man in the leg and he is expected to fully recover. Police said the victim was only in Jackson about a week, visiting family. Officers said a fight led to the gunfire.
