JACKSON, Tenn.- Jackson Mayor Jerry Gist stood before Northside Assembly of God’s congregation to honor west Tennessee pastor, Randy Carter, for his 20 years of service in the city of Jackson on Sunday. Members said their pastor is most recognized as having one of the most inspirational voices in Jackson. His teachings focus on learning to love God and love one another. “What he gives us in here, he said we are to take it outside of the walls and use it,” said member Anna Covington.”He is interested in our school system, interested in every part of the community. When you have a minister that realizes reality and doesn’t just live in the dream world we can do this.” Pastor Carter told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News that rebuilding hope is his passion. Carter said anything is possible when people work together as a team to make a difference. Over the past 20 years his congregation reached a milestone raising nearly $3 million dollars for 65 difference projects the church has tackled over the years. “That’s what Jackson needs to rebuild hope in this community. Hope as a unity between the races, hope of a healthy and positive school system. That’s what we want to dedicate our lives to,” said Pastor Carter. ” Our call is not just to Northside Assembly, our call is to Jackson. The Lord is the captain. It’s his Church and we all have a part to play and every part is important.” “We are working as a team shoulder to shoulder down the same path to go out into the community to let them see Jesus in us,” said member Shirley Watson.” Church members gathered for a reception after the morning service ended and honored pastor Carter’s family for their service with tickets for two over seas trips. Pastor Carter said he plans to continue spreading the message for faith, hope and love across Jackson for many more years to come.
