Woman talks about shooting that killed family
PINEVILLE, Ky. (AP) – A southeastern Kentucky woman who survived a shooting that left her father and brother dead says she had been in a relationship with the man who shot them but ended it months ago.
The woman, 21-year-old Robin Smith of Pineville, told WYMT-TV (http://bit.ly/14dFY4N ) from the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville that she doesn’t know why 51-year-old former Knox County Judge-Executive Raymond Smith turned violent.
Robin Smith is in stable condition. She says she escaped with a young nephew after her father, 50-year-old Michael Smith, was shot Tuesday and that her brother, 21-year-old Dustin Smith, fought Raymond Smith, a move she believes saved her and her nephew’s life.
Robin Smith says she was shot in the back but hid outdoors until she saw Raymond Smith drive away.
Police say Raymond Smith fatally shot himself at a Knox County cemetery.
