UTC eyes state office building location for dorm
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) – University of Tennessee-Chattanooga officials see the lot where a state office building sits as a solution to dormitory overcrowding.
The state plans to move workers out of the Chattanooga State Office Building, which is near the UTC campus.
The university has a couple of hundred students living at the Chattanooga Choo Choo hotel because the dorms are full.
Meeting with reporters and editors of the Chattanooga Times Free Press (http://bit.ly/1bSBLZw), UTC Chancellor Dr. Steve Angle said the university hopes to get the seven-story office building, demolish it and build a 600-student residence hall on the lot.
