Dr. Dockery Presides Over Final Convocation

JACKSON, TN – Union students and faculty filed in for the eighteenth and final convocation led by President David Dockery. Dr. Dockery has been the president of Union University since 1995. He is credited for not only steadily increasing the enrollment at Union, but also tripling the school’s donors during his tenure. Prior to coming to Union, Dockery served as Chief Academic Officer at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. “I think the future of Union University is blessed, bright and very healthy place as an institution,” President Dockery said at the convocation. Students listened as President Dockery gave a history of Union University and his vision for the future. Junior Abbey Orr was especially moved by his words. “I think he is one of those Presidents that goes out of his way to be able to talk with students and interact with them, Orr said. “I don’t think a lot of university students have the opportunity to talk with their President.” President Dockery told the students the Union story in one of faith, faithfulness, hope and providence. “God has blessed us sixteen straight years of enrollment and large family and friends who support us in what we are doing,” President Dockery said.
