Hardeman County “Gear Up” Grant
HARDEMAN, Co., Tenn. — Hardeman County School District was awarded a “Gear Up” grant, in hopes that more kids will pursue higher education. According to officials, Hardeman County has a lower than average population of people with college degrees. The “College Knowledge” event was one of the first events of the school year, and representatives from four-year universities and technical schools in the state were there to show what they can offer students. Officials say it’s important for parents to be knowledgeable to help teach students about higher education opportunities, but it is also a group effort that includes the students themselves, and school leaders. School leaders hope the grant will lead more students down a path to higher education.
