Marijuana Grow Operation Found in Henry Co.

HENRY CO. Tenn.- Investigators in Henry County say a team effort is to thank for a marijuana bust Wednesday afternoon. Deputies worked with the Governor’s Marijuana Eradication Task Force and the Tennessee Highway Patrol to find the plants off Highway 54 and Barnett Road. “In total there were about fifteen plants,” Sheriff Monte Belew told 7 Eyewitness News after the bust. “It would be several thousand dollars worth in street value.” Investigators say the plants were very well taken care of, and seemed to have been checked on frequently by the grower. K-9 teams were used to try to track down a suspect, but no arrests were made. “Its a lengthy process and a difficult process to charge someone,” explained Sheriff Belew. “They aren’t here and you have to be able to link it to them.” The Tennessee Highway Patrol helicopter will be circling and searching other areas in Henry County this week, in hopes to find other grow operations.
