JACKSON, Tenn. – Family members gathered near the site where their beloved husband, father and uncle Hemanths Bhasvar’s life came to a sudden end. His daughter Jigisha, says she still can’t believe what happened. “Who [will] replace my Daddy now? You know I miss my daddy… [my] whole life [is] no good!,” Jigisha said through tears. Family says Bhasvar was walking home near the Days Inn on the 45 Bypass when he was struck and killed by a vehicle just after 9:30 P.M. Sunday evening. The family says they’re still in shock. Dipa Patel says she was Bhasvar minutes before the tragedy occurred. “I feel like if we had asked him ‘hey do you want us to drop you home?’ then none of this would’ve happened,” Patel said. His daughter says police told her an elderly woman hit her father as he walked home from a religious ceremony. She says all of this could have easily been avoided. “[The driver] told the police she can’t see at nighttime, Jigisha said. “So what’s she doing driving? If you not see anyone on the nighttime why [do] you drive?” Bhasvar sustained a serious head injury and was transported to Jackson Madison County General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His daughter says license checks for the elderly would help protect others from the anguish she’s now feeling. “Everybody’s life is so important. That’s God’s gift. I [can’t] bring him back, but I wanna tell everybody [we need to do something about this]” Jigisha said. His family says they hope telling their loved ones story can save more lives and remind drivers as well as pedestrians to be more careful. “I lost my Daddy, nobody replace my Daddy I [will] miss him all my life,” his daughter said. The family says they hope criminal charges are pursued. The Jackson Police Department could not comment on the investigation.
