Man Wanted for Burglary Returned Stolen Items for Cash

ADAMSVILLE, Tenn. – Adamsville Police need help finding thieves, who they said returned some of the stolen clothes to a local store and got cash. Residents of the area were shaken up after a burglar hit their neighborhood. “You never think it would happen to you,” said Scotty Harwell, who lives next door to the burglarized home. “You think that you’re the exception to the rule and it’s never going to happen to us. Then, bam!, it’s right here in your back door.” Adamsville Police said they believe two people broke into the house on Twelve Oaks Drive, and the suspects gained entry through the back door. Investigators said the thieves stole items like electronics and jewelry valued at around $5,300. Police said one of the suspects took stolen clothes to the Goody’s store in Savannah, where he used a receipt to exchange them for cash. “The lady’s sister-in-law said you might want to contact Goody’s and tell them that this merchandise has been stolen and somebody might return it, and in this case, they did return it to get the money,” said Richard White, who lives across the street from the victims. Some neighbors said what was most disturbing to them was that the suspects were seemingly carefree with their crime, settling into the home and even eating the victims food before making off with the stolen items. “They knew that they were out of town, so I think they had been watching the house maybe for weeks or however long, and they knew at certain times that they would be gone,” said White. Neighbors have been on edge ever since the burglary. “I’d like for them to get caught, and that way it may give us a little peace here that it’s not going to happen to other houses in the neighborhood,” said White. The pictures attached to this story are of the suspect who returned the clothes to Goody’s.
