Memphis Music Hall of Fame Inductees Announced

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The names of the thirteen artists that will be inducted in the Memphis Music Hall of Fame were announced Tuesday. Americana icon Johnny Cash and funk veterans The Bar Kays and are among the 2013 honorees. The rest of this year’s inductees include Albert King, The Blackwood Brothers, Roland Janes, Knox Phillips,Sid Selvidge, David Porter, Carla Thomas, Memphis Jug Band, Kay Starr, The Herbert Brewster and Phineas Newborn Jr. The ceremony is scheduled for November 7 at the Gibson County Showcase and Lounge. According to the Memphis Hall of Fame website, annual inductees into the Memphis Music Hall of Fame are selected by a prestigious nominating committee composed of nationally recognized authors, producers, historians and leaders in the music industry. The number of annual inductees, both performing and non-performing, may vary.
