Mayor to visit Metro high performing schools

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Nashville Mayor Karl Dean is continuing to visit Davidson County schools among the top 5 percent of those in the state for annual growth and academic achievement.

Dean is scheduled to visit three Reward Schools on Tuesday. They are Lockeland Elementary Design Center, Liberty Collegiate Academy and Meigs Middle Magnet School.

Last month, Gov. Bill Haslam and Education Commissioner Kevin Huffman recognized 169 Reward Schools.

They span 52 districts across the state and include 70 schools that serve mostly economically disadvantaged populations.
