JACKSON, Tenn.- State officials, health care providers and residents came together to learn about issues affecting seniors. State representative Jimmy Eldridge of Jackson hosted the event along with Southwest Tennessee Development District Area Agency on Aging & Disability. Those attending the open meeting discussed aging and disability issues. Experts addressed such topics as Medicare, Tenncare choices, nutrition and elder rights. “As they get older, all of a sudden they experience a whole set of new questions that they didn’t experience before,” said Jim Shulman of the Tennessee Commission on Aging and Disability. “That’s why we put on these forums so that they actually understand kind of what’s out there and they have a better understanding of what they need to know.” Those attending said they came away with a better understanding of issues affecting seniors.
