Toone Business Destroyed in Fire

TOONE, Tenn.- After a long-time local business burns to the ground, a local family picks up the pieces and asks their neighbors for help. Ken’s Speed Shop, a garage and transmission shop had been in business for more than 30 years. It burned Monday, after an air conditioning unit caught fire. Although no one was injured, nothing in the building was salvageable. The owners said they could not get insurance because of the wood heaters in the shop. Now, the family is hoping they can raise enough money to start over. “This is all I know. My son and I don’t have a big degree. This is our life,” said Kenneth Elder, owner of Ken’s Speed Shop. “You just gotta keep going and take the good with the bad and try to get it back up and going,” said Kenny Elder, son of the business owner. Owners are hoping to have a fundraiser in the community soon.
