Sickly Store Owner Beaten With Walker, Robbed

JACKSON, Tenn.–Madison County deputies search for two people accused of robbing the owner of Uncle Bubba‘s Antiques at gunpoint. During the robbery, investigators said one of the suspects beat the man with his own walker. “They took his walker and pounded him and pounded him,” Shelly Curby, store manager said. “He has blood and bruises.” Curby helps manage the store and take care of the owner. “He was sleeping and when he woke up he woke up to a gun in his face, and they were masked and wearing black,” she said. Deputies said two suspects stormed in around 4 a.m. Wednesday, assaulted the 66-year-old owner who lives in an apartment in the back of the building, then stole his medicine. “It appears that they were not there for money, that they were simply there for the prescription medication,” Madison County Sheriff David Woolfork said. Detectives collected fingerprints at the scene they hope will help identify the suspects. “I just hope they catch him,” Curby said. “I hope they catch him quick before they can do this to someone else.” Curby said the owner now has to come up with money to replace the medicine. “It’s just disgusting, absolutely disgusting that they would take someone’s pills that they need to survive,” Curby said. Woolfork said the suspects will likely face burglary, robbery, and aggravated assault charges. Deputies said one of the suspects is a tall thin white man. If you have information about the robbery, call the Madison County Sheriff‘s Office at (731) 423-6000 or Crime Stoppers at (731) 424-TIPS (8477) .
