Suspicious Fire Destroys Humboldt Home

HUMBOLDT, Tenn. — Humboldt Fire Chief Chester Owens said it took them only three minutes to respond. But when they arrived on scene, the entire house was on fire. “The fire is suspicious and it’s under investigation from the police dept and the fire department,” said Owens. The victim’s cousin, Aletha Patrick said the fire shattered her dreams of living in the home that has been in the family for years. “This is a nice community,” Patrick said. “This street is and its quiet and its nothing I would think would be foul about living down this street,” said Patrick. A neighbor said he was walking outside and he heard a loud boom, but by the time he came back to see what was going on, the house was engulfed in flames. “Yea it hurts because my auntie I just know, you know I mean…it hurts. It just hurts,” said Patrick. She also said she just wants someone to come forward. “If somebody got anything against anybody please just, I mean, don’t take it out on people…house/home or nothing this where we live,” said Patrick. Patrick said now the house is destroyed, they will have to tear it down, and move on with their lives. Investigators said the neighbor’s car and side of the house was also damaged. The fire is under investigation. If you have any information to help solve this mystery call the Humboldt Police Department at (731) 784-1322.
