Grade School-Aged Boys Charged With Auto Burglary, Felony Vandalism

JACKSON, Tenn. — Jackson police have charged two brothers, ages 13 and 10, and a 7-year-old friend with multiple counts of auto burglary and felony vandalism to property at the City of Jackson garage at 81 Conalco Drive. Around 5 p.m. Saturday, police were called to the city garage. The three boys were detained while officers surveyed the damage. The investigation determined that the boys entered the property by going over and under a secure fence. They then entered eight different city vehicles from the street department, health and sanitation, and storm water operation. The keys had been left inside, and the boys drove the trucks around the property causing several collisions and a minimum of $200,000 worth of damage. The 13-year-old boy was transported to the Madison County Juvenile Center where he is being held pending a detention hearing today. The seven and 10-year-old boys were issued juvenile citations and released to their parents. All three boys are charged with eight counts of auto burglary, vandalism over $60,000 and trespassing. The three boys will appear in Madison County Juvenile Court on a date to be determined by the court.
