JACKSON, Tenn.–An Australian woman accused of sending nude pictures to a girl in Jackson faced a judge Monday for the first time. Jackson police arrested Rianne Gysberts, 31, Friday afternoon after officers say she sent nude pictures of herself to a 17-year-old girl. β€œIt’s our belief that she was going to take this relationship as far as it could go,” Captain Tyreece Miller of the Jackson Police Department said. Authorities say Gysberts met the 17-year-old in an online chat room. Police say the woman traveled from Australia to Baltimore, Maryland for a family event, then flew to Tennessee to meet up with the teen. β€œI believe she was pretty serious about this young lady because she had actually brought a promise ring and a cell phone to give her, so they could communicate without her mom knowing about it,” Miller said. Investigators say the teenβ€˜s mom found out about the relationship and contacted police. Officers arrested Gysberts at a McDonaldβ€˜s on the Highway 45 Bypass. β€œShe came to McDonald’s thinking that she was going to meet the girl, but we were there instead and we took her into custody,” said Miller. Police encourage parents to know what sites their children visit online. β€œThe Internet, it gives you access to the world and it gives people who are predators it gives them access to your children,” Miller said. The judge set Gysbertsβ€˜ bond at $30,000. He also forced her to turn over her passport. Gysberts bonded out of jail Monday afternoon. Police say the girl and Gysberts started talking online about a month ago.
