Section of I-40 in Haywood County to Close for Two Weekends

MEMPHIS, Tenn. –TDOT contract crews will close a short section of I-40 in Haywood County in order to demolish the Albright Road bridge that crosses over the interstate. The bridge, which crosses over I-40 at mile maker 43, will be removed in sections. Explosives will not be used during the demolition process. Saturday, October 5, 2013 from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. – Both lanes of I-40 eastbound will be closed. One lane of I-40 westbound will be closed, and one lane will remain open. **I-40 East Detour** – Traffic on I-40 East will be diverted at Exit 35, and will use SR 59 and SR 76 to reenter I-40 East at Exit 56. Saturday, October 12, 2013 from 8:00 P.M. to 6:00 a.m. – Both lanes of I-40 westbound will be closed. One lane of I-40 eastbound will be closed, and one lane will remain open. **I-40 West Detour** – Traffic on I-40 West will be diverted at Exit 56, and will use SR 59 and SR 76 to reenter I-40 West at Exit 35. TDOT will use message boards to direct motorists around the detour route. The Tennessee Highway Patrol and TDOT HELP trucks will also be on site to assist with traffic.
