City Council Approves New Golf and Tennis Courts

JACKSON, Tenn. — The Jackson City Council passed measures to purchase 20 acres of the old Highland Green golf course for $200,000 and 3.4 acres from the VFW for $46,000 to build a new tennis complex in the northern part of the city. Parts of the VFW property will become an access road for people to be able to get to the new facility. Last month, the city council voted taken unanimously, and $10,000 was approved for an architectural and engineering firm to start doing testing on the soil and layout for the tennis courts and soccer fields. The council was told that underprivileged children will have a chance to play tennis, provided shoes, shirts and a racket.
