Affidavit: Medina Mom Confesses To Lying About Son’s Health

MEDINA, Tenn. — Court papers show the Medina mother charged with taking thousands of dollars from those sympathetic to her son’s fight with cancer confessed to doctors she made the whole story up. Jamie Decker, 34, the $20,000 bond before her scheduled court hearing this morning, which allowed her to skip the face-to-face with the judge. Decker is charged with theft. Investigators say she’d received donations through the West Tennessee Healthcare Foundation since 2009. Court papers say Decker told people her 10-year-old son had Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma to get money for her family. Decker will make her first court appearance, next week.
