SELMER, Tenn. – A convicted criminal is jailed in McNairy County, accused of having pornographic pictures of a minor on his cell phone. “We had a concerned citizen who got possession of Patrick Ford’s phone,” Lt. Roger Rickman of the Selmer Police Department said. “While looking at Patrick Ford’s phone, she did see what she thought was child pornography.” Investigators said the pictures on Ford’s phone were of an underage girl, which could be a costly offense for a man already jailed on drug charges from a separate case. “Patrick Ford is charged with three counts of sexual exploitation of a minor,” Lt. Rickman said. “He faces two to 12 years for each count, and a fine not to exceed $5000.” Police said Ford, who they refer to as a career criminal, has a history of crimes that dates back to 1992. They said by getting him off the streets and putting him behind bars, they are making Selmer and McNairy County a whole lot safer place. “It’s extremely important to get him off (the streets),” Lt. Rickman said. “We don’t want child pedophiles, and he’s also been known to be violent. He also has previous drug charges.” Investigators said to their knowledge, this is Patrick Ford’s only sexual crime victim. If you know of any other potential victims, call the Selmer Police Department.
