JACKSON, Tenn- Halloween shopping is in full swing and local vendors are reaping the benefits. According to the National Retail Federation, more than 150 million people are getting ready to partake in this year’s Halloween activities, resulting in close to seven billion dollars in sales. “I’m surprised that it’s that high but I get it,” Louise Brown a Halloween Store employee said. “But people like dressing up and being something different once a year.” “It’s expensive,” Kellie Smith, a local shopper said. “But it’s worth it because it’s fun.” Employees said the average person dishes out about 75 to 100 dollars; but not everyone agrees with the excessive spending. “It’s ridiculous because I grew up in Zimbabwe and basically Halloween is just another day,” said Kimberleigh Matabire, another local shopper. Still, It’s another day that is raking in billions for local and national venues selling the latest Halloween items.
