JACKSON, Tenn.–As the weather cools off, pests make the move inside. Butler Pest Control Services sprayed for insects at a house in West Jackson on Tuesday. “They’re designed to find a place to hibernate and make it through the winter,” Randall Butler said, owner. Butler deals with mostly wasps, spiders, and mice in the fall. “They know the weather’s changing and they’re looking for a place to get in out of the cold,” Butler said. The UT Extension office in Chester County gets calls this time of year about beetles, larvae, and spiders. Extension Agent Brian Signaigo says watch out for brown recluse. “It’s gonna be under the beds,” Signaigo said. “It’s gonna be in the corners of the closets. It’s gonna be, it might even be in your shoes.” Signaigo says clean your house and keep debris like leaves and wood away from the outside of your home. “Sanitation inside and out is the very best control,” Signaigo said. Butler recommends having your home sprayed inside and out twice a year. “In the spring it stops the cycle and then the fall when they come in, it stops them from being able to carry over through the winter,” Butler said. Butler said it costs about $100 to spray your house inside and out. That does not include the attic or under the house. Signaigo says people are more likely to find insects in their kitchen or dining room.
