DYERSBURG, Tenn. — A new van was donated by the Disabled American Veterans to help vets get to the VA Medical Center in Memphis. Some vets got their first look at the new ride Tuesday at the veterans clinic in Dyersburg. The rides will be free five days a week, to the VA Medical Center and clinics in Memphis. The Dyer County Mayor says they plan to help as many vets as possible. “We did not turn any veteran down just like Veteran’s Day we don’t want anybody who is a veteran if he can get to the Plan B we don’t turn them down,” Mayor Richard Hill said. The price of the van is $24,000. Disabled american vets paid half of the bill, while the other half was paid through grants from the state. The van is only available for Dyersburg veterans.
