Man Charged With Drug Trafficking And Weapons Violations

EAST JACKSON — A man was arrested on Thursday night after a search warrant revealed illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia. Investigators from the Jackson-Madison County Metro Narcotics Unit served a narcotics search warrant at 429 Preston Street in east Jackson where they encountered Lorenzo Thomas. The search of the residence revealed approximately 5.7 grams of Crack Cocaine, 5.8 grams of Marijuana, two handguns, digital scales and drug packaging materials. Thomas was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the Madison County Criminal Justice Complex. The drugs seized in this case have an estimated street value of $625. Lorenzo Lamont Thomas, age 28, of 322 Lincoln Street In Jackson was charged with Possession of Crack Cocaine with Intent to Sell or Distribute, Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Sell or Distribute, Possession of a Firearm in commission of a Dangerous Felony and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was arraigned in Madison County General Sessions Court and was released after posting a $10,000 bond.
