JACKSON, Tenn.- Police are searching for the gunmen responsible for two back-to-back robberies in North Jackson, Saturday. Investigators said the two armed robberies happened just minutes apart and within a few blocks of each other on North Highland Avenue just after 9 p.m. Saturday night. Witnesses told officers two masked gunmen entered the Dollar General store off of North highland Ave around 9:15 p.m. Saturday. Officials said the pair demanded cash then took off on foot. According to police, the two were last seen getting into a White Chevrolet Malibu-style car that was driven by two other women. “You know it’s a good area out here everybody is nice and respectful of one another so you wouldn’t think it would happen over in in this area,” customer Travis Jarrett said. Local workers told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News this isn’t the first time the Dollar General has been targeted. “It seems to be towards closing time when it happens,” resident David Vance said. “It’s been hit several times in last few months, makes us very nervous.” Residents said what is troubling is that within minutes, just a few blocks South of the Dollar General, police said a cashier inside of the B.P. Gas station located on North Highland Avenue was also held up at gunpoint during a robbery. “I look out for the safety of my family so I hope they catch the guys who did it,” Jarrett said. “It seems like they’re picking out random places and targeting different businesses.” The victim at B.P did not want to be identified but said a gunman entered around 9 or 9:30 p.m. wearing a black winter skull hat with a grey and white bandanna over his face. She said he rushed in demanded cash then ran away on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. Some residents said they believe the two robberies are connected. Officers said they are considering all possibilities. “If at all possible I’d recommend that people don’t shop at night,” Vance said. “Before you even get out of your vehicle, turn off your car and lock it. I would look around to see if there’s somebody suspicious.” So far no arrests have been made. The gunmen seen at the Dollar General Store described the pair as wearing dark clothing with green and black masks. Victims said the gunman at the B.P. Gas Station was described as a black male wearing a light blue t-shirt, grey blue jeans, a black winter skull hat with a grey and white bandanna over his face. According to witnesses, the gunman is also described as very slim, around 6′ feet tall with black tennis shoes on.
