Medical helicopter crashes in Fayette County

SOMERVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Authorities say a medical helicopter with three people on board has crashed in the outskirts of Somerville in West Tennessee.

Somerville Police Chief Ricky Hoskins says the aircraft crashed into a field early Tuesday. There was no immediate word on the condition of the three people aboard.

Jeff Moder, a spokesman for Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare, says the Hospital Wing helicopter was headed to Bolivar, Tenn., to pick up a patient when it went down.

Moder says those on board were two Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital personnel along with the pilot.
