Fire Destroys Home in West Jackson

WEST JACKSON — A family is without a home after a destructive fire in West Jackson. The house, located on 128 Morgan Street, was engulfed in flames at around 1:20 this afternoon. According to officials, the fire started with an extension cord in a room, then it ran up the wall and into the attic where most of the damage was sustained. Officials say there were people in the house at the time of the fire, but they were able to exit the home safely. The Battalion Chief has deemed the house unlivable due to the water damage caused from battling the fire. The occupants of the house are meeting with Red Cross.
