Bomb Threat Reported at Jackson North Side

NORTH JACKSON — Jackson police are investigating a bomb threat that was called in to North Side High School, located at 3070 North Highland Ave. Shortly before 10 a.m. today, someone called the office at North Side High School and reported that a bomb was in the school. Students were evacuated and officers searched the campus’ buildings with the assistance of the police department’s explosive detection dog. After searching for over three hours, police were unable to detect any explosive devices. Officers cleared the scene around 1:40 p.m. Investigators determined that the call was placed from a pay phone outside Phillips 66, located at 1929 U.S. 45 Bypass. Investigators are attempting to identify a suspect. An unidentified male was seen at the pay phone around the time of the call. He was wearing an orange hoodie with the hood pulled over his head and blue jeans. The man was driving a 4-door, maroon sedan.
