Locals Participate in Skinny Pumpkin Walk

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — An effort to get Jackson residents moving saw a number of people walking through downtown, Thursday afternoon. The Lift Wellness center and southwest Tennessee development district teamed up to host the Skinny Pumpkin Walk. Those taking part set his or her own pace for the walk that started and ended at the Lift Wellness Center. The walk took participants on the newly created walking trail, a 1.5 mile path throughout the heart of Downtown Jackson. “Encourage people to exercise without having to have 2 hours before work or two after work to do it,” Benji Huckaby said, Wellness Manager at the Lift. “You can just come to work, bring tennis shoes and take part of your lunch break and walk.” Organizers say they hope to have similar walks and activities in the downtown area.
