JACKSON, Tenn — Saturday afternoon kids packed the streets of downtown Jackson dressed in their best costumes, for the Halloween Extravaganza. Executive Director of the Jackson Downtown Development Katie Pace, says the event gets bigger every year. “This is our 9th year and it’s where businesses, churches and individuals come together to do free trick or treating for the community,” Pace said. “We always try to strive every year to add some new stuff so this year we’ve had the bouncy house added.” Curtavous Harden says at first he wanted to be a power ranger; but he changed his mind after he found a scary wolf costume, “Yes, but it’s a little cold, though,” he said. Lauren Esch says she dressed as Selena Gomez because she has a celebrity crush, and she’s got the hat to prove it. “Justin Bieber is my fake boyfriend,” Esch said. “But the best part is watching all the kids come down here full of life, in their costumes,” Pace said. “This year we have music so they’re out dancing.” Ms. Esch says she’s just happy she satisfied her sweet tooth. “I got some candy and let me tell you, my favorite candy, it’s a Kit-Kat bar,” Esch said. Pace says the city of Jackson doesn’t fund raise or get any profits from this event. She says everything is free of charge.
