CHESTER COUNTY, Tenn.- Hundreds of parents celebrated their Halloween festivities early Wednesday night out of fear severe weather will ruin their trick-or-treating chances on Thursday. First Baptist Church in Henderson was one of many organizations to reschedule an event for Wednesday night instead of Thursday. Even with last minute decisions to change date, the church’s annual trunk or treating celebration attracted hundreds of participants “We’re trying to save Halloween so we thought we would come to this wonderful event a day early which is wonderful they’re doing it now not many places are doing it on Wednesday,” said parent Shea Currie, who attended Jackson’s First Baptist Trunk or Treating event. For some events organizers said it was volunteers who made the last minute change possible. Many volunteers agreed to change their plans and set up early for the kids. “This is such a good missionary opportunity for the Church we didn’t want to miss out,” said Molly Smith, Henderson First Baptist Director of Children Ministries. “It seems like we got as big of a crowd as we would have had tomorrow night with good weather so it’s turning out pretty good,” said volunteer Terry Seaton. Some kids said they didn’t mind getting their candy early, but they are expecting to get candy on Halloween too. “Halloween is not going to be cancelled I’m not going to let that happen,” said 9 year old Jorionte. “I’m going to buy a hoodie and an umbrella and that’s it.” Some local events have been moved to Friday or Saturday.
