Fall Colors Shine Bright at Chickasaw State Park

CHICKASAW STATE PARK, Tenn. — It was windy at Chickasaw State Park Saturday, but that didn’t stop one youth ministry group from getting out and enjoying the new fall colors. “I had to climb a hill to get good reception, but other than that I’ve been sitting by the lake over there with my bible and just enjoying the water and just the sceneries,” Thomas Lynn said. Park ranger Ron Elder says they were starting to worry since the leaves took so long to change, but now that they’re here these beautiful shades won’t be around for long. “Probably have two more weeks that people can come down and get some good fall color shots, whether they’re wanting to take pictures or just see the fall colors for themselves,” Elder said. Park officials say the leaves started to change colors around the end of October and in the last week, they’ve seen a number of people coming to the park, trying to get a closer look at the change of scenery. “So, I didn’t really have a good view until the sun came up and then all of a sudden beautiful colors were popping out everywhere,” Lynn said. Elder says the most common leaf colors are yellow and orange and red seems to disappear quicker than others.
