Chattanooga’s Coolidge to appear on postal stamp
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) – A Chattanooga man is among World War II Medal of Honor recipients being featured in a new set of Forever stamps issued by the U.S. Postal Service.
The Chattanooga Times Free Press (http://bit.ly/HtWw3H) reports a special stamp dedication ceremony is scheduled next week to honor 92-year-old Charles Coolidge, who is among only nine living recipients of the nation’s highest military honor.
The Chattanooga area already has two parks and a highway named after Coolidge, who earned the award for his actions during a four-day battle in 1944 in France.
The public can purchase the new “World War II Medal of Honor” Forever stamp series beginning on Monday.
