JACKSON, Tenn — Residents watched on Tuesday as a cleaning crew removed items from the apartment where police said Alexander Merriweather, 23, was shot, Monday night. “It’s really crazy over here,” Ashley Robertson, a neighbor, said. “I don’t feel safe for me or my child.” Police responded to a shooting at East Pointe Apartments, located at 504 Daugherty Street, where they found Merriweather dead from multiple gunshot wounds. Investigators said he was sitting in the living room of an apartment when shots were fired into a window. Merriweather did not live in the apartment and police have not confirmed if he was the intended target. Robertson said, violence like this is becoming all too common. “A few months ago they were shooting over here and shot into my daughters’ bedroom,” Robertson said. “That made me want to move.” Police do not have any suspects in custody related to this shooting. If you have any information, contact the Jackson Police Department at (731) 425-8400 or Crime Stoppers at (731) 424-TIPS (8477).
