BB Gun Found on Bus in Union City

UNION CITY, Tenn.- A bus driver in Union City received praise by school leaders and parents, after quick action when he thought his students were in danger. The Union City Director of Schools, Gary Houston, said a bus driver at Union City Elementary school saw what he thought was a gun on a student, and called for help. Union City Police responded, and discovered it was only a BB style pistol. Parents said they are thankful for his quick action. “It could have not been a BB gun, it could have been a real gun,” said Niccole Gray, parent of a 2nd grader. “They do look a lot alike.” The school system said their faculty can never be too careful, and are glad the driver took the right precautions. “It does make me feel really good, and my kid’s bus driver is great I trust him to see something and report it,” Gray said. The school would no comment on any punishment for the student, but said it is their policy to hold a hearing on the situation. The Union City Police department said they will not pursue any charges on the elementary student who had the BB gun.
