Dot Foods Hosts Groundbreaking For Dyersburg Facility

DYERSBURG, Tenn. – More than 100 new jobs are on the way to West Tennessee as Dot Foods broke ground on a $24 million distribution center in Dyersburg on Thursday. “It’s about the county, it’s about the community, but most importantly it’s about the people in the area,” CEO of Dot Foods John Tracy said. Construction on the new facility will begin shortly after Thanksgiving, and the company plans to open it in September 2014. Dot Foods will hire nearly 125 employees initially and nearly 160 within three years. Dyer County Mayor Richard Hill said the new jobs are important for the county, which currently has an unemployment rate of 11percent. “It’s a domino kind of thing,” Mayor Hill said. “It creates a little increase here and there and everywhere.” Company officials said it took about three years to settle in on the Dyersburg location. In the end, they said it was the family atmosphere that made it an easy choice.” “Family values are a key part of not only our promise, they’re a key part of who we are every day, and that’s who we hire,” Tracy said. “We hire families because we all know that jobs generally aren’t me or I jobs, it’s almost always a we job.” Company officials said they expect the jobs to be filled quickly.
