JACKSON, Tenn.- Changing the city’s business atmosphere was the reason area leaders gathered Friday as they discussed a master plan for the city. The key issues they agreed need improvement: quality of life for those in poverty, crime and workforce training. Officials said the master plan is a long process but it aims to help the city not only now but 15 to 20 years down the road. “We want the city to be future proof. We want it to be successful in the future. We’ve won some awards for liveability and some other things. We don’t want to rest on those laurels. We want to continue to advance and improve, so this is critical to that,” said Stan Pilant, Jackson Director of Planning. This is just the beginning of the master plan process…which city officials expect to take about a year.
