BROWNSVILLE, Tenn- A Haywood County man, who police said had a house full of firearms and ammunition is now off the streets, indicted on multiple counts of possession. “He had assault rifles, shot guns, hand guns, and lots of ammunition,” Captain Chuck Willis of the Brownsville Police Department, said. Captain Willis said the house belongs to Antonio Snipes, a convicted felon. In October, police seized 20 types of firearms along with ammunition and tactical style body armor. “We have no idea why he had so many firearms,” Captain Willis said. After a three month investigation by the Brownsville Police Department and the ATF, Federal Charges were finally brought against Snipes on Wednesday. Police said what’s even more shocking is that Snipes, who lived at his Haywood County address for more than six years, is a violent sex offender who never registered in the state of Tennessee. “We discovered he was a convicted sex offender out of St. Louis,” Captain Willis said. According to him, by law Snipes should have registered with the Haywood County Sheriff’s Office when he moved to Brownsville in 2007. Police aren’t saying what initially led them to Snipes, but more charges are possible.
