Update on City Workers Fired over Birthday Card Controversy

DYER, Tenn.-An update from Dyer as the seven street workers fired last week for signing a birthday card are rehired Monday night, but not without some controversy. At first, the board of aldermen upheld their firings. But when they voted one by one, each was rehired. They were fired last Thursday after the recipient of the card they signed complained. It made reference to a hairy hunk, but showed a puppy dog. The workers said they signed it, off the clock for a local plumber who goes to church with the woman. The men will not get back pay.
