Small Business Saturday Helps Local Economy

JACKSON, Tenn. – The day after Black Friday is know to many as “Small Business Saturday.” And according to businesses in Jackson, this is typically their busiest day of the year. . Chris Chase, general manager at Robert’s Jeweler’s, said there are benefits to shopping local, “More personal… everybody will know you by name and treat you as more of family. That’s what we are here – family.” Marilyn Jackson, the owner of Marilyn Jackson’s gifts, said that spending money locally will benefit the buy as well as the shop, “We put money right back into our community. We put money right back into advertising. That’s money we actually get.” Stores said that nearly 70 cents out of every dollar goes back to the community as paychecks, taxes, and services.
