Teen Can Be Tried as Adult for String of Burglaries

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — Charvasea Lancaster, 16, of Jackson, can be tried as an adult in 10 incidents of auto thefts and burglaries, and lawn mower and trailer thefts in Jackson and Madison County spanning from early September to mid-October. Following a Wednesday transfer hearing in Madison County Juvenile Court, Judge Christy Little ruled that there was sufficient probable cause that Lancaster committed the crimes. Judge Little further ruled that Lancaster could be tried as an adult. Lancaster was transported from Juvenile Court to the Madison County Jail. As of today, he remains in custody in lieu of $50,000 bond. The cases will next be presented to the Madison County grand jury. Lancaster’s charges were a result of investigations by Jackson police in the city and the Madison County Sheriff’s Department in the county. In Jackson: On Sept. 5, Lancaster stole a truck that was parked on the 30 block of Sta-Les Cove. On Sept. 8, Lancaster stole a truck, with an attached trailer carrying a 4-wheeler, which was parked on the 30 block of Plymouth Cove. On Sept. 8, Lancaster broke into two cars parked at a house on the 20 block of Arbuckle Cove. In one of the car burglaries, he went into the trunk and stole a shotgun. On Sept. 9, Lancaster broke into a car parked at a house on the 40 block of Arbuckle Cove and stole several items inside. He caused a minimum of $1000 worth of damage to the car door. In Madison County: On Oct. 15, Lancaster stole a truck that was parked at a house on the 20 block of Hummingbird Cove. On Oct. 16, Lancaster stole a utility trailer outside a house on the 100 block of Graves Loop Road. On Oct. 16, Lancaster stole a riding lawn mower from the yard and a lawn mower from the shed at a house on the 4000 block of Old Medina Road. On Oct. 16, Lancaster stole a lawn mower outside a different house on the 4000 block of Old Medina Road. On Oct. 17, Lancaster stole a car that was parked at a house on the 3000 block of Old Medina Road. On Oct. 18, Lancaster stole a lawn mower from a different house on the 3000 block of Old Medina Road.
