LEAPWOOD, Tenn. – A West Tennessee family is left homeless after their home goes up in flames, Wednesday. “When we pulled up, I thought it was over,” firefighter Jonathan Finley said. “I mean there was smoke coming out everywhere. The whole house all the way around was smoking.” Family members described the fire as devastating. Korrie Infield said she got the news while at school. “I was in art painting a picture and I looked down at my phone and see the house is on fire, and I kind of thought it was a joke,” Infield said. Firefighters said the cause of the fire is under investigation, but it appears to have sparked due to an electrical issue. Everyone involved said the timing makes the incident even worse. “I know it hurts, especially this close to Christmas,” Finley said. “It’s got to be something that weighs on you. I mean (they have) no house, nowhere to live. It’s bad.” The family said even though the fire essentially destroyed their home, the situation could have been much worse. And at this point, they are just happy nobody was hurt. “It’s material,” Infield said. “It’s OK. We’re going to make it. It’s just another day. It’s just another roadblock.” The family said their community and church are helping them in the aftermath of the fire.
