NORTH JACKSON — On a day that some may consider unlucky, people are trying their luck at trying to win the more than $400 million jackpot. Because no one has won the jackpot in more than two months, the top prize has grown to the second-largest in Mega Millions history to $425 million. Some say the money could help them pay off some debt. “[If I won, I would] pay my children’s student loan off,” Jackson resident Maruchi Fraga said. “Pay their houses off and secure my grandchildren future.” A winner with a ticket matching all six numbers would have the choice of a full jackpot in 30 annual payments or a cash option of more than $228 million, before taxes.
