Ouster Lawsuit Filed Against Madison County Sheriff

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — An ouster lawsuit has been filed against Madison County Sheriff David Woolfork, Friday morning, after three Sheriff Department employees accused him of sexual harassment. Madison County Attorney Steve Maroney submitted the suit in Chancery Court around 9 a.m. Friday. A law firm out of Nashville was hired to perform an independent investigation into the allegations. After their findings, the firm recommended Woolfork be removed from his position. According the the lawsuit, Madison County leaders took action to remove Woolfork from his elected office because of his alleged inappropriate relationships with county employees Deputy Sharon Sangster, Lt. Lisa Balderrama and Barbara Autry. Sangster alleges Woolfork came to her Jackson home Oct. 10 and sexually and physically assaulted her. Since the reported incident, Sangster filed an order of protection against Woolfork. He was forced to surrender his weapons and has filed an appeal. Woolfork was indicted on criminal charges in connection to the incident. Although Woolfork has admitted to having an affair with Sangster, he denies the assault.
